Academic content
- Purpose
- The student will acquire knowledge about newer and older research results in Faroese syntax.
- Learning outcomes
- Students who successfully complete the course can demonstrate ability to: • explain the main characteristics of Faroese syntax • analyze Faroese syntax • compare Faroese syntax to the other Nordic languages and explain differences and similarities • use the course material in his/her future work with Faroese
- Content
- Faroese will be described and analyzed based on older and more recent research in Faroese syntax. We will read chapter 5 in Faroese. An Overview and Reference grammar (2004; 2012). The students will furthermore read different recent and older articles about topics in Faroese syntax, and we will read parts of Føroysk mállæra II. Syntaks and Språket som superkraft.
