Academic content
- Purpose
- The purpose of the course is to provide the students with the independent competence to use the most important basic theoretical and formal models in long-run macroeconomic analysis, in order to anchor the students in scientific methodology and theories of the subject.
- Learning outcomes
- 3-hours written examination without aids. Students are required to pass a minimum of two assignments in order to attend the exam.
- Content
- The course teaches long-run macroeconomics and economic growth, and gives the students knowledge of the standard formal models of economic growth and long-run tendencies is productivity and income, consumption and capital formation. The course introduces other determinants of economic growth in order to give a proper introduction to the extent of the subject.
- Learning and teaching approaches
- Upon successful completion of the course the student should be able to: • Analyze and explain central aspects of long-run macroeconomics • Analyze and explain central aspects of economic growth theories • Use formal models from modern growth theory to explain economic growth and the disparity in income between countries • Apply econometric analysis in assessment of effects on world countries’ growth performance
