Academic content
Purpose
The purpose of the master's project is for the student to investigate a topic in connection with management, also in connection with the Faroese management context, based on the knowledge and learning the student has acquired during the management education.
Learning outcomes
When the course is over, the student must be able to: • Confirm and communicate current management phenomena and problems from a scientific and academic perspective. • Explain a significant problem with relevant management theory and concepts. • Confirm and discuss practical consequences that the analysis has uncovered.
Content
• Practical and important topics within selected management areas • Analysis of management situations and phenomena with scientific methods, where there is a requirement that the use of quantitative methods is included in the investigation • Clear theoretical views that provide a better understanding of a management phenomenon that is important for management as a whole, and management in Faroese society (past/present and/or future) • Prepare, organize and carry out a problem-oriented analysis independently, or in collaboration with other students (but no more than 3 group members), supervisor and other stakeholders.
Learning and teaching approaches
The master's project is based on problem-oriented project work, which is carried out individually or in groups. During the work process, when the master's project is carried out, the students meet 2-3 times. A mandatory mid-term presentation must be held, where the students present to each other based on a previous written submission and receive feedback from the lecturer and the other students.
Assessment
Assessment method
Problem-oriented written assignment to be defended orally. A prerequisite for obtaining permission for the final exam is that the student must have passed the written and oral mid-term presentation, which is held midway through the autumn semester/spring semester during the master's project course.
