- Purpose
- The course is focused on teaching the eldest classes (8th – 10th grade) in the public school in Faroese. The student is to gain insight into various teaching themes relevant to teaching Faroese. Furthermore, the student is to gain insight in how to evaluate courses taught in Faroese, as well as how to organize annual and final examinations.
- Learning outcomes
- On completion of the course, students must be able to: • explain how theme-based teaching can be used in courses in Faroese in grades 7th – 10th in the public school in the Faroese. • explain how theme-based teaching can be used in cross-disciplinary courses • evaluate which themes are significant and relevant to incorporate in the teaching of Faroese in grades 7th – 10th in the public school in the Faroese. • evaluate and be aware of the impact of the genre as to how a theme is described, analyzed, and interpreted. • estimate arguments for and against of using the synopsis as a method for examination in Faroese. • organize a course plan where a selected theme is portrayed through a variety of texts (e.g., through different genres – both fact and fiction – as well as from different periods).

- The course is organized into several independent yet coherent parts: - Theme based courses - Theme studies as focus areas - Genre didactics – Faroese technical terms and textual analysis
- Learning and teaching approaches
- Blended learning: • Lectures by course lecturer • Dialogue based teaching where lecturer and students discuss relevant aspects of teaching Faroese. • Individual and group work based on selected teaching themes As the course progresses, the students will get the opportunity to focus their attention on a self-elected theme which will form the foundation for the final examination.
