Academic content

Purpose: The purpose of the course is that the student aquires a fundamental insight to the importance that language has for induvidual development as identity, culture and knowledge promotion. That the student develops his writing skills
Learning outcomes: On completion of the course, the student should be able to: • explain basic theories about language as a communitication tool and as identity, cultural and knowledge promotion and combine these with pedagogical work. • demonstrate suitable language and communittication skills in various genres and contexts • explain what distinguishes work of art and narrative art and combine it with the individual culture and identity development • explain what happens in a language resistance • Show insight in theories about bilingualism
Content: • What is language • Literacy, language aquisition and language development • The interconnection between language and identity • Bi- or multilingualism • Language contact • Narrativety • Language as a conection tool adjusted to situations and circumstances • Grammar, spelling and punctuation • Writing
Learning and teaching approaches: Shifting between lectures, dialogue lessons, student presentations, written exercises, both in groups and individually
