- An academically oriented upper secondary diploma with a good average mark in Faroese (i.e. at least 5.8 on the 7-step marking scale or 8 on the marking scale from 00 to 13). A requirement for course participation is also that the student has completed the Literary Analysis I course.

Academic content
- Purpose
- To provide students with in-depth knowledge about analytical concepts and textual analysis with a particular emphasis on analysing in detail two of the main genres of imaginative literature and additionally to provide students with the ability to analyse the main characteristics of non-fiction texts.
- Learning outcomes
- Successful students can demonstrate ability to: • analyse texts from two of the main genres of imaginative literature in detail, as well as broadly analyse non-fiction texts • explain the characteristics of two of the main genres of imaginative literature in details, as well as the general characteristics of non-fiction texts • describe their own approach to textual analysis of texts from two of the main genres of imaginative literature, as well as non-fiction texts • express orally and in writing using appropriate language the results of analyses of two of the main genres of imaginative literature and a non-fiction text
- Content
- Students will be required to read introductory literature on textual analysis, focusing in particular on two of the main genres of imaginative literature. Students will read and analyse varied examples of particularly two of the genres of imaginative literature and additionally examples of non-fiction literature genres.
- Learning and teaching approaches
- This class-based course is offered as two hours per week over one semester. The main learning and teaching strategies used will be lectures and student presentations, written exercises and group work.
