Academic content
- Purpose
- Students gain experience in independent artistic work either individually or collectively together with other students participating in the course. The purpose of the work is to learn to plan an artistic project and to execute the project successfully from initial idea to final production/artistic whole.
- Learning outcomes
- By the end of the course, students should be able to: - plan an artistic project from initial idea to final production - realize the project individually or in collaboration with others - accomplish independent and complete artistic achievements - explain and assess their own artistic work and the project of which it is part.
- Content
- The students carry out an artistic project which they describe in writing at the beginning of the course in consultation with the instructor (max 300 words). The project may be individual or collective: e.g. an anthology (collective), texts for magazines, an essay or review for a journal, a podcast, stage setting, recitation, or performance. While working on the project, students draw on the theoretic tools and methods which they have acquired during Workshop I – III and Independent Work I – III. The students are themselves responsible for planning and carrying out the project. In addition to the artistic project itself, the course work may also encompass cooperating with potential suppliers, marketing, and securing potential external funding if necessary.
- Learning and teaching approaches
- Students meet once a week for 2-4 hours, or according to need. A supervisor is present to offer guidance and ensure progress on the projects. In addition, students will be working independently - as individuals responsible for their own artistic project - or collectively as a group where multiple individuals are jointly responsible for a project’s artistic quality and cohesiveness. If necessary, external supervisors may be invited to take part in the instruction.
