Academic content
- Purpose
- Students learn to independently apply and assess their own competences in practice by taking on tasks at an internship location. Concrete practice-based experiences teach the student how musical abilities can be exercised practically in actual artistic and/or cultural working situations.
- Learning outcomes
- By the end of the course, students should be able to: - independently apply their professional skills by taking on assignments in an internship setting - carry out independent musical or artistic/cultural work in an internship setting - describe (in a written report) the internship and their own role while taking into account the purpose statement and relevant working methods - asses their own professional competences in a practical context - explain how musical knowledge can be put into practice in actual working situations - reflect critically on artistic practice in a societal context.
- Content
- The internship consists of work done at an internship location, such as a cultural institution, and a written report on what the student has achieved and learned during the internship period. The internship need not take place at a cultural institution but can also be a musical project in which the student takes part, or it may be a combination of both. Examples of musical works created during the internship may be submitted as part of the report. The workplace and the student cooperate on drafting a purpose statement for the internship. The purpose statement is subject to approval by a supervisor associated with the degree programme as well as the programme leader and must be approved no later than the start of the semester. The time spent by the student on the internship must be equivalent to 10 working weeks.
- Learning and teaching approaches
- The internship includes both work at the internship location and supervision. The student is assigned a supervisor who is associated with the degree programme and receives supervision 4-5 times/6-8 hours at even intervals throughout the semester. As part of the internship, students keep a logbook which the supervisor and student use as a basis for their meetings when the internship is nearing its conclusion, and the student is writing the final report
