Academic content

Purpose: The student will acquire knowledge about newer and older research results in Faroese syntax.
Learning outcomes: Students who successfully complete the course can demonstrate ability to • explain and describe the main characteristics of Faroese syntax • analyze Faroese syntax • evaluate and analyze Faroese syntax in comparasion with the other Nordic languages and explain differences and similarities • work on his/her own with the topic • use the matieral in his/her further work with Faroese
Content: Faroese will be described and analyzed based on older and more recent research in Faroese syntax. We will read chapter 5 in Faroese. An Overview and Reference grammar (2004; 2012). The students will furthermore read different recent and older articles about topics in Faroese syntax, and we will read parts of Føroysk mállæra II. Syntaks and Språket som superkraft.
Learning and teaching approaches: Lecture, presentations, group-work, discussions.
