Academic content
- Purpose
- The objective of the practice learning course is to broaden the professional and academic skills of the student and to give students the opportunity to create new and relevant knowledge demanded by the labour market. The purpose is also to establish a link between education and the labour market and to connect theoretical and practical forms of knowledge.
- Learning outcomes
- Upon completion of the course, the students shall be able to: • Write an academic practice learning report which entails new and relevant knowledge. • Critically reflect on practical experiences and the practice learning process • Critically and scientifically reflect on the choice of topic, methods, analysis and conclusions.
- Content
- The course follows the academic year and commences in the middle of August and ends in December. The content consists of: • Work on the labour market, seminar activities and supervision which connects academic learning and the Faroese or the international labour market. • Practice-oriented and problem-based academic report, which will strengthen the analytical skills of the student
- Learning and teaching approaches
- Work at the university 5-7 sessions are allocated for seminars at the university. The work at the university supports the production of the report. The seminars at the university include presentations, debate and individual supervision. If student undertake the course abroad, special arrangements will be made as to how this will be organised (e.g. online attendance). Work at the Practical Learning Workplace The course is based on a joint written agreement between the university, the workplace and the student. The objective of the agreement is to secure that the workplace, the university and the student agree on the choice of topic and that the chosen theme entails academic depth and requires analytical skills.

- Assessment method
- Before the student attends examination, s/he must have participated in the academic work at the university and on the labour market in a satisfactory manner. This will be approved by the course leader. The assessment is based on an overall assessment of the written report and an oral examination.

- The practice learning report is due for submission on the 29th of November 2024. The oral defense is set for the 12th and 13th of December 2024.
