Prerequisites
At least 60 ECTS credits in computer technology, of which at least 22.5 credits in programming and at least 7.5 credits in discrete mathematics.
Language of instruction
The course is taught in Swedish and English. The textbook is in English and other instructional materials are in English, Faroese and possibly Scandinavian languages. Exams may be in Faroese, Danish or English.
Registration
Students on the fifth semester of B.Sc. in Software Engineering are automatically enrolled. Applicants for an individual course must apply via the Student Service Center at lss@setur.fo

Academic content
Purpose
The purpose of the course is to provide a general orientation on artificial intelligence with a focus on concepts and methods for the design of intelligent agents.
Learning outcomes
After passing the course, the student must be able to: - describe and exemplify sub-areas within Artificial Intelligence, - describe environments for intelligent agents, - solve problems, where the solution algorithm is not known in advance, - choose and motivate the right type of agent for the problem/environment. - exemplify and categorize search strategies.

- Overview of the field of Artificial Intelligence - Design and types of Intelligent Agents - Heuristic optimization - Search strategies - Game AI (Zero-Sum-Games) - Constraint Satisfaction Problems
Learning and teaching approaches
The course can be completed as a campus course or as a web-based distance course without meetings. Different implementations place different demands on teachers and students. For each course offering, it will be clear which form of teaching will be applied. All course material is presented via a web-based teaching platform. Instruction is provided via the current teaching platform.

Assessment method
Approved (passed/non-passed) submissions (L101) count 4.5 ECTS, and an online written exam (T101) counts 3.0 ECTS, which will be assessed according to the ECTS scale for the final mark for the course.
