- Purpose
- The purpose of the course is to provide the students with conceptual, theoretical competences and insight in research traditions and social as cultural fields within the study of business and maritime history.
- Learning outcomes
- As the course is both based on theoretical and practical learning, the student’s outcome will be: • an interdisciplinary understanding of business and maritime history that will qualify them to describe and interpret the complexity of this field of history • analysing and discussing contemporary history specifically by • comparing various theories, historical processes, epochs and periods as the Faroes as a small state and maritime island society are part of a global history and the world society.
- Content
- Based in the field of business and maritime history there will focus on terminology i.e., key concepts and theories in the study business and maritime history and regarding theory and examples from a local, national and global history perspective. Faroese business and maritime history in the 19th and 20th century are to be identified in a Nordic and global context. Concepts, theory, and methods will be presented in a comparative sense to understand this certain historical topic.
