Academic content
Purpose
The purpose of the course is for the student to gain insights into theories and methods pertaining to didactics of religion, and to acquire competencies to apply these when teaching Christianity and religion in primary and secondary school. The purpose is also for the student to gains insights into the teaching materials produced for the subject – and to acquire abilities to assess said materials and put them to use in concordance with other teaching materials. The student must be able to combine this with the contents of the course Teaching Christianity and religion I – background and basic knowledge. The general purpose is for the student to acquire competency to teach the subject of Christianity and religion in primary and secondary school.
Learning outcomes
On completion of the course, students must be able to - Explain the substance and use of the syllabus in Christianity and Religion. - Choose parts of the syllabus and place these in relevant teaching situations. - Critically assess theories and methods in dicactics of religion. - Discuss reasons for choosing particular didactical methods relating to teaching situations. - Discuss reasons for choosing teaching materials for different levels of education. - Construct complete lesson plans in the subject and discuss the choices of content, didactics etc.
Content
- The primary/secondary school syllabus in Christianity and religion – contents, purpose, structure and use. - Teaching materials for the subject – primarily materials produced by Nám for all levels. - Concepts and methods in didactics of religion – such as comparative, narrative and existential methods.

Lectures, reading, discussions, excursions, assignments, presentations, teaching each other.
