Academic content
Purpose
The purpose of the course is to enable the participant to assess and implement Co-teaching in practice. Emphasis is placed on teaching differentiation, inclusive and safe learning communities, and Co-teaching as a change process.
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course, participants should be able to: • Explain, assess, and reflect on what characterizes Co-teaching both theoretically and in practice • Describe and evaluate what defines Co-teaching as a change process within the school context • Apply Co-teaching and teaching differentiation in educational settings
Content
The course is divided into four main areas, which are interconnected. The areas are: • Co-teaching as a concept o Development of enhanced learning and participation opportunities o Developing structured collaboration between professionals o Creating inclusive learning environments • Co-teaching in practice o 6 teaching models o Structured collaboration and co-development between staff: preparation, execution, assessment o Professional learning communities (PLC) o Psychologically safe learning communities • Teaching differentiation as part of Co-teaching • Co-teaching as a change process
Learning and teaching approaches
We use lectures, collaborative learning, group work, case analysis, discussion groups, presentations by course participants, short written assignments, self-study, etc.
Assessment
Assessment method
The assessment is divided into two parts: 1. The participants must write a synopsis based on course material and one or more practical challenges in areas covered by the course. Participants must attempt Co-teaching and teaching differentiation in practice, which should be reflected in the assessment. 2. The synopsis must be presented orally.
