Purpose
The purpose of the course is to acquire basic insight into: • Special pedagogic in public school and as part of the general pedagogic environment • The rights of pupils and the school obligations in relation to pupils in challenging learning environment • To prepare, promote, and evaluate a teaching process that has an inclusive vision as a base • Practical IT-didactic in the Faroese compulsory school, and IT- didactic current trends, with focus on inclusive pedagogic approach
Learning outcomes
On completion of the course, students must be able to discuss, analyse and describe: Special pedagogic seen as a special educational environment or as a part of the public school system • The rights of the pupils in challenging learning situations and the duties of the school and the teacher • The special education area in the Faroe Islands • Explain, analyse, and describe selected diagnostic challenges and specialized theories and methods • Assess and consider how lessons can be structured regard to students in challenging learning situations assessing the benefits and challenges of interdisciplinary collaboration • Discuss the concepts of student-centred teaching and inclusive pedagogy • Plan, promote, and evaluate a hypothetical co-teaching teaching process • Assess the advantages and disadvantages of selected IT-didactic tools in inclusive pedagogy • Use at least one IT tool concretely in teaching students in challenging learning situations.
Content
The following topics will be addressed based on selected theories and methodologies: •Special pedagogic seen as a special educational environment or as a part of the public school system? • Current Special pedagogic of 21st century seen as a special educational environment or as a part of the public school system • Documents, laws and policy for special pedagogic • Special pedagogic area in the Faroe Islands. • Pedagogical theories and methodologies in relation to selected groups • Teaching differentiation/inclusive teaching • Intermediates approach: Co-teaching and NEST-classes • Interdisciplinary and intersectoral cooperation and parenting cooperation •Practical experience with selected IT tools and theories regard to inclusive pedagogy
Learning and teaching approaches
Primary learning and teaching methods include: Lectures, guest lectures, videos, case study, and role-playing. Students’ presentations, exercises, and independent work assignments

Assessment method
To pass the course, the student must: • Attend classes • Actively participate in discussions in class and group work • Presentations in larger and smaller groups throughout the course • Written assignment and a presentation inspired by PechaKucha at the end of the course
