Prerequisites
Participants must hold a master’s degree. The course is for researchers engaged in research-related writing, regardless of research area: humanities, social or natural sciences. Prior to the course, participants submit samples of their own writing, which will be included in the course material.

Academic content
Purpose
The course aims to enhance participants’ ability to write academic research-related manuscripts effectively and comply with academic publishers’ quality criteria for linguistic style and content.
Learning outcomes
On completion of the course, students can demonstrate ability to: • Write in stylistically correct English for academic research-based writing • Analyse and revise an academic text in accordance with the conventions of academic writing • Use appropriate rhetorical and grammatical constructions in their writing • Participate in collaborative writing and editing by using constructive feedback techniques • Manage their writing process
Content
The course comprises the following topics: • Stylistic and structure-based conventions of each section of academic articles • Feedback on writing and for revising manuscripts • Style rules on grammar and vocabulary • Rhetorical tools for building argumentation • Approaches and strategies for managing a writing project
Learning and teaching approaches
The course includes lectures, group work, writing and feedback exercises and self-study. Students work on revising their own texts.
