Purpose
For students to acquire an understanding of and practice their skills at administrating intravenous medication. In addition, students will acquire understanding of and practicing skills in administrating blood transfusions.

Teaching and learning is organised as alternating lectures, dialogue, group work and exercises.
Content
Teaching and learning is organised as alternating lectures, dialogue, calculation assignments and exercises. Transfusion medicine: · Blood types, antigens and how they are analysed · Risk of infection associated with blood transfusions · Nursing in relation to blood transfusions Intravenous (IV) medical treatment: · Types of IV treatment · Training in applying calculation methods and formulae to calculate medicine dosages · The responsability of nurses in this regard · Nursing in relation to IV treatment · Training in administrating IV treatment using an infusion pump Nursing exercises in relation to blood transfusions and IV treatment
